Basin Planting: Growing More with Every Drop

As rainfall becomes more unpredictable, farmers need simple ways to harvest and conserve water in their fields. One powerful solution is basin planting. 150 farmers around Nthondo area were trained. Basin planting involves digging small pits or basins before the rains. These basins capture and hold rainwater around each plant, allowing crops to: 1. Grow stronger even during dry spells 2. Benefit from improved soil moisture and fertility 3.

Produce higher yields with less water This climate-smart technique works well for maize, sorghum, soybeans, and groundnuts helping farmers make the most of every drop while restoring soil health. Let’s dig basins, conserve water, and secure our harvests — together for a resilient future! #BasinPlanting #ClimateSmartAgriculture #WaterConservation #ResilientFarming #HarvestGlow #SustainableFarming
