Basin Planting: More Than Just Planting, It’s Smart Farming!

This season, we have trained 320 farmers on the basin planting method as an alternative to the traditional ridge system in soybean production. Basin planting is not just about putting seed in the soil it is about planting with purpose. Through this approach, farmers learn how to conserve moisture, place fertilizer or manure precisely, reduce runoff, and give soybean plants a strong start.

Compared to traditional ridges, basin planting allows crops to make better use of rainfall and nutrients, especially in areas facing erratic rains. 📊 What’s next? We will be comparing soybean yields from basin-planted fields versus those planted on traditional ridges to demonstrate the real impact of this climate-smart practice. By adopting basin planting, farmers are investing in: ✔️ Better moisture retention ✔️ Stronger plant establishment ✔️ Improved soil health ✔️ Higher and more reliable yields 🌾 Basin planting is more than just planting — it’s a pathway to resilient farming and increased productivity.
