Empowering Farmers in TA Kasiya: VSL Clubs Trained in Soya Bean Production

Village Savings and Loans (VSL) clubs in Traditional Authority Kasiya, Lilongwe, are stepping into new opportunities after receiving specialised training in soya bean production. The initiative, aimed at improving food security and household income, is equipping community members—especially women and youth—with both agricultural skills and financial literacy. Through the training, participants have learned improved planting techniques, field management practices, post-harvest handling, and market linkage strategies. By integrating savings culture with agribusiness, the VSL clubs are now able to invest collectively in inputs such as certified seed and fertiliser, making farming more efficient and profitable.
